Sand and Sable is a classic floral fragrance, first released in 1981 by perfume house Coty. The scent blends feminine, floral accords such as jasmine, peach, gardenia and other green notes. This fragrance will make you feel like running towards the shoreline, an ocean breeze rustling through your hair as you make your way through the sand.
Coty was founded in 1904 by Francois Coty in Paris, France. After studying perfumery with a pharmacist, he launched his first perfume, to immediate success. He became known for crafting and marketing fragrances, using attractive bottles in beautiful packaging.
The perfumer also began marketing perfume, which had been primarily available to the wealthy, to middle and working-class women, launching mass-market products. When the brand was sold to Pfizer in 1963, its products were sold primarily in drugstores and mass retailers. After its acquisition by Joh. A. Benckiser GmbH in 1992, the brand has shifted back to upscale fragrances.
Fragrance Family: White floral
Scent Type: Floral, tuberose, animalic with green accords
Notes: Sand & Sable begins on a sweet note with fresh peach and bergamot. Enhanced by a heart of gardenia, tuberose and jasmine, the scent has a full-bodied and green aroma. As the fragrance dries down, the base notes add a rich warmth with musk, sandalwood and amber.
Suggested Use: For a long-lasting fragrance that you can carry throughout the day and to minimize the need for reapplying, focus on your pulse points behind your ears, at the base of your neck and on your wrists as well as warmer areas of the body, such as behind the knees and inside the elbow. These are the best places to apply your fragrance since the scent intensifies with the warmth of your body.
