Madame Alix Gres opened her first fashion house, La Maison Alix, in 1932. She began designing under the name Madame Gres in 1942 and continued until retirement in the late 1980s. Known for elegant gowns, Gres dressed royalty, aristocrats, and actresses. She began producing perfumes in 1959 but sold the business in 1982. Currently owned by Lalique, the brand is now based in Zurich, Switzerland and continues to produce and collaborate with expert perfumers.
